Connect to an external datasource

{{ datasource.title }}

Here you can configure two types of external datasource, JDBC and REST.

JDBC datasources

JDBC data sources define the configuration of connections to external databases; they are stored in the cluster and are visible to all the Siren Investigate instances with access to it.

Once configured, use the Virtual indices management section to map individual database tables to virtual indices.

Please note that when encryption is enabled only the password field will be encrypted, so it is recommended to avoid putting credentials directly in the URL parameter.

REST datasources

Configure a REST datasource to invoke a REST service; the typical use is to display results in a Query Viewer visualization.

This field is required

Datasources are visible to all the Siren Investigate instances in the cluster, so it is recommended to choose a meaningful name (e.g. mysql-sales).
